Fishing Boats:

Fishing is part sport, part passion, part just plain fun. Running toward the dawn in a huge sportfisher is heaven on earth. But so is dangling a bait beneath a bobber from a family runabout. Whether you live near lakes, rivers, oceans or bays, fun fishing is just an engine crank away. Get out there and do it.

Offshore Saltwater Fishing If your idea of fishing involves stout tackle, huge fish and miles of open seas, you want a boat capable of handling any conditions. Seaworthy vessels include basic center consoles and cuddy cabins with single or twin outboards up to convertible or bluewater fishing machines with fancy salons, plush quarters and powerful inboard diesel engines.

Inshore Saltwater Fishing When you need a small, light vessel to target tropical flats for bonefish or tarpon, or you want to poke around the estuaries for redfish, trout and snook, typical vessel selections include "flats boats" or "bay boats." These boats, usually under 23 feet in length, are most often powered by a single outboard engine. They float in shallow water and offer ample deck space for casting.]

Bass Fishing You've seen these boats. They're fast, colorful and low-to-the-water. They may be fiberglass or aluminum and most come equipped with bow and stern platforms for casting. A bow-mounted trolling motor completes the perfect bass rig.

Freshwater Fishing If you fish the lakes, but prefer leaving the go-fast boats to the hardcore bassmen, you'll find many options under freshwater fishing boats. From aluminum hulls to fiberglass, from walleye boats, bowriders and dual-consoles to small center consoles, you can pick a style to suit your family's activities.

Power Boats:

Powerboating presents the ultimate in instant getaways. Hop on your powerboat, turn the key and push the throttle, and you're effortlessly transported across the world of water. You can explore it in a pleasure boat, play on it with a waterskiing and wakeboarding boat, rocket across it in a high-performance boat, pamper yourself on it in a yacht or splash your way to fun and excitement on a personal watercraft or jet boat. Whatever your pleasure, there is a powerboat and powerboating activity waiting for you

Pleasure BoatingPleasure boating is recreational, weekend powerboating, usually for a single day but not excluding overnight stays. Common pleasure boating activities include cruising, touring, towing for recreational watersports such as tubing and basic waterskiing, and casual fishing. Pleasure boat styles include runabouts with small cabins or open-bow areas, deck boats and small cruisers.

Yachting The ultimate in powerboating, yachting involves offshore or inland cruising, often for extended trips, entertaining and even living aboard large vessels with multiple cabins and deluxe accommodations. Motoryachts such as convertibles and sedan bridges also are used often for bluewater offshore fishing.

High Performance High-performance boating involves boats most often capable of running 60 mph or more. Activities include high-speed offshore cruising, rallies and offshore racing. Found on inland and offshore waterways, high-performance boats include V-bottoms, stepped V-bottoms and catamarans.

Skiing/Wakeboarding Skiing and wakeboarding boats are made to tow a waterskier on one or two skis or a rider on a wakeboard. Dedicated ski boats generally create low, flat wakes, which are ideal for skiing, and dedicated wakeboard boats create large, steep wakes, which are ideal for boarding. Ski and wakeboard boats are generally offered with direct-drive or V-drive engines.

Personal Watercraft/Jet Boats With jet boating, family fun is just a splash away. Jet boats tap water-jet propulsion for quick and snappy power. Jet boats can handle all the duties of small runabouts, including touring and towing wake boarders, water-skiers and water toys.

Pontoon Boats Riding on a pair of aluminum or steel pontoons, pontoon boats present the ultimate in leisurely powerboating. Pontoons boats can be powered by outboard or stern-drive engines, and generally offer plenty of open deck space with generous seating. Onboard amenities can include full galleys and entertainment centers, tables, enclosed head compartments and more.

Sail Boats:

Sailing is truly a lifelong sport. You can enjoy the wind and waves if you are eight or eighty. Sailing can be a quiet, restful few hours on the bay, a long cruise to destinations unknown, or an exciting blast across the lake. If you like to race, it can be done just about anywhere around the world ... the sailboat racing community is a fun and joyous group. If you'd like to cruise around the lake with family and friends, or sail over the horizon to distant shores, there is a sailboat just for you

Daysailing Day sailing boats can provide you with a wide range of experiences. Depending on your interest and inclination, it can range from the safe and simple to the thrilling and complex. Day sailing refers to boats primarily designed for use during the day that have no, or minimal, overnight accommodations. Day sailing boats are either centerboard boats (smaller, simpler, off-the-beach- or ramp-launchable windsurfers, dinghies, catamarans and small cruisers) or keel boats (larger, kept in the water).

Cruising If you're headed out for a night, a weekend or longer, you'll need a cruising sailboat with a place to prepare meals and bunks for sleeping. Despite their larger size, cruising sailboats are generally designed for handling and control by just two people. Cruising sailboats often include interior accommodations for two or more people, an inboard engine, and a place to cook (stove and icebox).

Racing Sailboat racing is an exciting sport that is enjoyed by families and friends on just about any sailboat imaginable. Do it around the buoys on a lake, race offshore to Bermuda or Hawaii, go to the Olympics, or race around the world. Two forms of racing exist. One-Design racing is where all boats are the same type and pits one person's experience against the other. The other form is called Handicap racing, where different boats race against different types of boats (almost like horse or golf handicaps). Specialty racing classes are designed in both centerboard (windsurfers, dinghies and catamarans) and keelboat types (racers and racer/cruisers).

Jet Boats:

With jet boating, family fun is just a splash away. Jet boats tap water-jet propulsion for quick and snappy power. Jet boats can handle all the duties of small runabouts, including touring and towing wake boarders, water-skiers and water toys.

Jet Boats Jet boats are small runabouts, usually with open bow areas and interior seating, with water-jet propulsion that can be used for day cruising and recreational watersports (such as waterskiing, wakeboarding, and towing water toys). Snappy and agile, jet boats are the "jet" equivalent of many propeller/outboard powered pleasure boats.

Personal Watercraft Ridden like motorbikes, personal watercraft are small, jet-propelled craft used for cruising, touring, recreational riding and recreational watersports (such as towing or racing). Depending on the model, they can handle up to four riders.
